ROBBING HOOD / LEFTHANDPATH
Originally 'Coming from Planet Vegan' (according to a track-title), Robbing Hood (aka Dave Webb) grew up in Brighton, before moving first to France and later to Marienhamn at the remote Åland Islands in the Baltic Sea. As a member of the local culture/media house "Q", he joined forces with Istvan Stenberg and Arn-Henrik Blomqvist in order to set up Ax Records, presumably Åland's first and only Dubstep-label.
Starting out as a guitarist, he began using a drum machine as a metronome and soon discovered that programming beats was far more fun than playing in a thrash-metal band. This led not only to the making of banging 303/606 acid-techno but also experimenting with low-speed DJing in the backrooms at Zero Gravity, Club Dog and Megadog events. On discovering the joys of sampling and sequencing on his Atari-ST, his music became increasingly breakbeat orientated. Today, Robbing Hood's tracks often evolve from an initial loop which then dictates the tempo and feel of the track. Sometimes they grow from a concept - maybe a muse on the sonic possibilities of the periodic table. And sometimes they just germinate from a beat seed.
His musical influences includes artists such as King Tubby, Richie Hawtin, J Saul Kane, Matthew Herbert, Richard D James, Einstürzende Neubauten, the RZA, but also Music Concrete and other experimentalists including The BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Raymond Scott, Esquivel and Martin Denny.
Robbing Hood - Bullseye! is available on Ax Records as Digital Album or limited CD.

As member of Graz' notoriously busy disko404-collective, it seems that B.L.O. has specialized in reconciling electronic sounds of the US and the UK, combining Jungle, Baltimore Club, Dubstep, Detroit Bass in a transatlantic interpretation of the Hardcore Continuum.
