Farid Eslam, originally from Frankfurt, lives and works in Prague, where he graduated from the film school FAMU (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague). He has years of experience working on commercials, award-winning music videos and documentaries which have taken him around Europe and the Middle East. His work focus besides his commercial work lies on youth culture and social issues. Farid is the founder of Mind Riot Media, a creative house specialising in the development and production of commercials, films, TV content and marketing solutions.
Farid’s debut film Istanbul United has been screened at many renowned festivals and met with great critical acclaim. It was called „a masterpiece about helplessness and resistance” by Süddeutsche Zeitung and „The most revolutionary football film ever made“ by Die Welt.
His second film Yallah! Underground follows some of the Arab world’s most influential and outspoken underground musicians, taking stock of a generation’s hopes and dreams - some of them alive and kicking, others in tatters amidst the uncertainties and disruptions in the wake of the Arab Spring.
