DJ Earl

DJ Earl entered the musical world in 2005 by means of dance battles. He participates local parties in rollerskating rinks, building up his unfailing knowledge of this culture. In 2008 he meets DJ Spinn and DJ Rashad — a sudden trigger that led him to produce his own footwork tracks and join the Ghetto Teknitianz beside Spinn, Rashad, Traxman and many others soon thereafter. DJ Earl represents the new generation of Chicago’s sound, between jazz and funk tunes, devilish synthesizers, unstructured hip hop samples, heavy sub basses and mesmerizing snares. With releases on prestigious record labels such as Hyperdub & Planet Mu and appearances at Boiler Room & Fabric London there's no telling what's in store for the future. He is currently preparing to release a new record crafted alongside Daniel Lopatin - also known as Oneohtrix Point Never - which will be out on Teklife in September 2016. At this years edition of the festival he will perform with footwork dancers Sirr Tmo & Dre. Hailing from Chicago`s southside, they both started breaking and footworking as kids, continuously developing their own skits and routines. Learning from the legends while getting battle experience the dancers slowly found their own unique styles enabling them to take part in official competitions and ultimately joining the Teklife Crew. Since then SIRR TMO & DRE have performed alongside such greats as DJ Rashad, DJ Spinn, RP Boo, Jlin and Chance The Rapper at events such as SXSW, the Mad Decent Block Party and Pitchfork Festival amongst others.
