Once a year, BarCamp welcomes the Austrian Web Scene to Graz. This user-generated ''anti-conference'' and work-shop event attracts around 300 media and technology enthusiasts, who spend the weekend presenting, discussing and developing. There is no audience: attendees are either guest-speakers, participants or organisers. The programme schedule is decided in the morning, and everyone is encouraged to contribute. The open character of this event allows knowledge to be shared quickly and easily, while attendance remains free of charge. BarCamp Graz is organized by volunteering activists from Graz, who wish to promote informal knowledge sharing and knowledge dissemination.
