Fearless Journalism
Reporting from the Front Lines
Uncover, speak up, push forward...all this needs courage. According to “reporters without borders” in 2017 more than 260 journalists were imprisoned, and more then 70 people were killed while working as a journalist – with increasing tendencies. Press freedom is under pressure.
To protect the watch dogs of our democracy in the human declaration of human rights it is therefore written: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.”
What does this right mean for those journalists who – need to – take great risks to spread information, others would prefer to be hidden? What does it take to engage in fearless journalism? And when does journalism become activism while staying even the more, true to the facts?
