Human Nature

Videoinstallation

‘Human Nature’ is an audio-visual installation which reflects on the theme of truth through the gaze of artificial intelligence. How might a rational mind calculate the essence of human existence, and represent this as an expression, a creative artefact? Seeking to investigate the fallibility of representation as well as the value of error, and the space this opens for autonomous creativity.

Conceived as a post-mortem of anthropocentric decadence, this multi-screen portrait explores the irrevocable impact of human society on the natural world, and its failure to view itself as part of it. Furthermore, it questions the role of the artefact as evidence, and to what end distortion is a defining characteristic of historical narratives.
