Thomas Edlinger (at)
Thomas Edlinger is a radio producer (FM4-Im Sumpf, Ö1), freelance cultural journalist, book author and, from 2017, artistic director of the Donaufestival in Krems. Parallel to his studies in philosophy, journalism and German studies, he worked on the Ö3 programme Musicbox from 1989. Since 1995, Edlinger has been the creator and presenter of the FM4 programme Im Sumpf (In the Swamp) together with Fritz Ostermayer and is considered a supporter of alternative art and culture. In 2001, together with Vitus Weh, he was curator for the Quarter21 of the Museumsquartier Wien and brought groups such as SRA, Quintessenz and monochrom to the cultural area. 2002-2004 he was curator at the O.K. Centrum für Gegenwartskunst in Linz, 2004-2006 curator at the Kunstmuseum Lentos in Linz. Since mid-2007 he has contributed to the late-night show Willkommen Österreich as an off-camera voice for short descriptions of the guests. From the winter semester 2016/17, after teaching at the Kunstuniversität Linz and at the FH Joanneum in Graz, he will take up a lectureship at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna in the Department of Art and Knowledge Transfer. In spring 2017, Edlinger organised the Donaufestival for the first time, which has been taking place since 2005.
