Christoph Weiss aka Operator Burstup is a musician, DJ/producer and journalist. For 20 years he reported and commented on internet politics and internet culture on Radio FM4. Since the early 1990s, he has been publishing political and social commentary on groovy beats with his hip-hop band Schönheitsfehler. As a solo artist, in the 1990s he landed a number 1 hit on the Drum'n'Bass charts of mp3.com with his track "Funky Ass Beatz". Numerous hip-hop bands, including Texta and Total Chaos, appeared on the record label Duck Squad, which he founded. Operator Burstup has been producing and publishing music on his own label and with Motor Music, BMG, Sony and Universal Music. Burstup deals with future technologies and their social effects not only in his musical work, but also in his 3D art and his journalistic publications. This includes Bitcoin and open blockchains as well as emerging genres of digital art and electronic music, innovative ways of music performance in virtual worlds and the activities of his new music label SHF Records.
