// Amit

( / )

With the new sound of breaks and drum & bass emerging in the late 80s and early 90s, Amit started crafting his sound and developing his vision listening to the sounds of Source Direct, Photek and Goldie. With influences from the lush Hindi sound scores of Naushad, haunting vocals of Muhammad Rafi, Mukesh & Egypts Om Khaltoum, to The Cure, Joy Division, Sonic Youth, Radiohead and African Bambaata, Amits unique sound was born. Described as fascist tribal dub with a warm eastern/gothic twist Amits big break came when he sent a track to Digital which received a positive response from various underground DJs. 2003 saw his first release on Klute’s Commercial Suicide and that’s when things started gaining momentum. Randal started dropping his track into his set, Grooverider and Bailey playing the track on BBCs Radio 1 and 1Xtra, even the legendary John Peel selected it for his show. With live shows, solo album and a film score, 2006 was a very busy year for one of the most innovative producers in the D&B scene today, an artist who continues to challenge the common ideas of D&B.
