( / )Artistically unique and coherent, Anja Plaschg aka Soap&Skin exhibits in her music, photographs and videos a rare combination of (musical) virtuosity and visual expressiveness. While beats and feeds of laptop recordings form the musical matrix in Soap&Skin's work, piano and voice carry her compositions.
Performing along on the piano - a very exposed setting in itself - Soap&Skin re-enacts/recreates the intimacy of the recording session and her distant-sounding voice further underlines this sensation.
Her compositions are very intimate, melancholic, sometimes even suicidal and the central themes of dreams, loneliness and death are wrapped up in fragile beauty, reminiscent of the great masters/heroes of sadness Nick Cave or Diamanda Galas.
After her first release on a compilation album on / with the label T.Raumschmiere Shitkatapult, Soap&Skin is now working on her debut album.
