Nafeez Ahmed
Nafeez Ahmed is a bestselling British author, international security scholar and investigative journalist. He regularly writes for The Guardian on the geopolitics of interconnected environmental, energy and economic crises at his blog Earth Insight. From 2013-2014, it was by far the most popular on the environment site, garnering around 3 million unique views, posting exclusive news reports, and triggering global headlines.
Nafeez is Executive Director of the Institute for Policy Research & Development in London, a transdisciplinary research network for equality, sustainability and security. He has also taught at the School of Global Studies, University of Sussex, and lectured at Brunel University’s Politics & History Unit. In 2003, he was a finalist for the Naples Prize, Italy’s most prestigious literary award, and in 2010 he won the annual international Routledge-GCP&S Essay Prize.
Nafeez's work aims to catalyse positive social change in the public interest by harnessing radical, systemic approaches to understanding the interconnections between the world's biggest problems, while developing holistic strategies for social transformation. His pathbreaking book and film on The Crisis of Civilization (directed by Dean Puckett) can be found at crisisofcivilization.com.
His new book, the near future science fiction thriller Zero Point (zro.pt), predicted a US-UK re-invasion of Iraq to put down an Islamist insurgency there.
