Algorithms are essential for today´s “culture of digitality”. They make a lot of things easier. But for them to function properly, they need a lot of data. So the rise of algorithms is inextricably tied to Big Data. Who does all this data belong to? Who can access it? And how does this change social power relations? Is our concept of human rights still adequate in the digital age? This will be debated by computer scientist Claudia Wagner, sociologist Stefan Selke and cultural scientist Felix Stalder. They´ll also try to find answers to fundamental questions such as: What are algorithms capable of and what not? Which decisions should a society delegate to machines and hich have to be made by humans?
