Alice Bows-Larkin (uk)
Physicist Alice Bows-Larkin is a professor of Climate Science and Energy Policy and director of Tyndall Manchester, a core partner of the infamous Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. Her broad interdisciplinary research interests revolve around energy systems, international transport and the transition to a low carbon economy.
In addition to conventional academic inquiry, Alice makes an explicit connection between her academic research and the broader policy context, and as a result, her work on international transport, energy systems and carbon budgets has had a significant recognised impact on topical debates and policy development, including shaping the UK’s Climate Change Act, influencing the treatment of aviation within the EU’s emissions trading scheme and influencing the international debate around avoiding the 2°C target associated with „dangerous climate change“.
