In front of supermarkets we find containers packed full of unopened groceries - tons of vegetables and bread end up in the rubbish every day. The team of Wastecooking wants to bring this state of wastefulness to attention. In a consumption-critical cooking show, dumpster divers and cooks get together and turn food that was retrieved from the rubbish into delicious and creative dishes for their guests. Their actions are intended to stimulate discussion and to promote an appreciation of food. The Wastecooking project was initiated by David Gross in Salzburg in 2012, and has caused a stir in Austria with its actions on food. The show can be watched online and a DVD is available.
