Cynthia McKinney (born March 17, 1955) is an American politician from the U.S. state of Georgia. A Democrat, McKinney is a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1993 to 2003, and from 2005 to 2007, representing Georgia's fourth congressional district. McKinney was defeated in the 2006 Democratic primary, losing her Congressional seat for the second time.

McKinney is being mentioned among Green Party circles as a potential residential candidate in 2008. On August 27th at a peace rally in Kennebunkport, Maine McKinney confirmed the depth of her disenchantment with the Democratic Party taking the bold step of urging San Francisco voters to replace Nancy Pelosi, with anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan. According to her website Cynthia McKinney is on the ballot for the Green Party Presidential nomination.

McKinney is described as "an outspoken leader for human rights; an ardent advocate for peace, and a determined worker for justice". She was the only one in congress to file articles of impeachment against members of the Bush Administration.

Cynthia was invited to Mumbai, India to speak at the World Social Forum. She has spoken all over the United States and in Germany, France, Italy, Jamaica, and many places all over the world because she is nationally and internationally recognized for her tireless voice on behalf of justice in the United States.
