High Wolf
High Wolf

Wrapped in secrecy, this French musician has been rather prolific over the past two years, releasing nine substantial albums on a variety of formats on labels smattered around the globe: Tokyo's Maomoo, LA's Not Not Fun, and his own Winged Sun. He also begun a collab with Astral Social Club (as Iibiis Rooge), embarked on two UK/Euro tours and a Japan tour, plus trekked out on a month-long solo journey through India to collect field recordings and get deep. Makes you feel lazy right? Well actually that's not all, as he also spent a few months somewhere in there recording, mixing, and re-recording the five multifaceted ethno-flux odysseys that comprise Ascension, his latest album released for Not Not Fun - a label that has been on a bit of a hot streak this year with strong releases from Pocahaunted, Sun Araw, and Magic Lanter. High Wolf uses loops, percussive sounds, fuzzy keyboards and obscure sunken melodies to create a ritual space that combines aspects of exotica, ethno-flux, drone and minimalism - music for dissolving, dreaming and dancing (in a certain way).
