If talent converted into record sales, David Moufang would be a very rich man. His records with partner Jonas Grossmann as Deep Space Network and his own solo releases as Move D are among the furthest outreaches of techno's push towards the stars. Schooled in classical percussion and with a keen talent for jazz guitar, Moufang was introduced to techno in 1989. Source Records was founded tersely afterwards. By the time his first solo work crept out as part of a Source Records compilation (Homeworks) in 1993, Moufang had already displayed a loose-limbed approach to techno that sent the foundations of Detroit spinning off into a new and laid-back orbit. Ranging from subtle, Detroitish grooves to wired electronic jazz and deep house poetry, it culminated in 2006 when his debut long player Kunststoff was re-released. Now, Move D produces applauded 12"s for Workshop, Modern Love or Philpot, complementing the skills of the versatile and fleet-footed DJ he is.
