The mission of the New Mexico Acequia Association is to empower communities in defending water as a community resource and to inspire people in keeping acequia water flowing to provide families and children with healthy, locally-grown food.
They maintain a seed saving and experimental farm operation in Taos, continue as a mentor with Sembrando Semillas, and produce a monthly radio show about acequia culture called Que Vivan las Acequias! Miguel Sanistevan has supported Food and Water Watch's efforts to ban fracking in New Mexico by doing community outreach to residents of at risk communities, by educating stakeholders in the dangers of hydraulic fracturing.
