On Saturday Elevate focuses on new ideas and approaches for a democratization of Europe. More and more initiatives campaign for new participatory forms of democracy. What´s their potential?

In the afternoon four sessions shed light on especially important developments and put them in relation to today´s state of democracy. After a talk the audience is warmly invited to participate in each session. Topics include the rise and transformation of Europe´s extreme right as well as the EU´s border and asylum policies. Other sessions focus on socio-ecological perspectives for Europe beyond economic growth and capitalism, European climate policies and civil society’s attempts to campaign for climate justice. After that a panel discussion will debate various visions for a socially just, ecologically sustainable and democratic Europe. 

Before the day is concluded with a screening of the inspiring documentary Yallah! Underground, three courageous activists share stories about their work with Elevate´s Daniel Erlacher and the audience.
