Democracy Dies in Darkness' is the Washington Post's new credo. For a healthy democracy, light is needed even in the darkest corners of government offices. But how can investigative research continue to be financed? What issues will be important in the future? Julia Herrnböck is a journalist and researcher at the University of Vienna. She has visited media and non-profit organizations in various countries and presents initial results. Florian Skrabal is the founder and editor-in-chief of Dossier, a non-profit platform for investigative research and data journalism. In spring Dossier publishes the first crowdfunding financed magazine. Florian gives insights into this pilot project and talks about investigative journalism in Austria. Anuška Delić will talk about transnational projects: she is a journalist with the ICIJ and the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP). Anuška Delić provides insights into complex research projects on international money laundering and organised crime in Europe.
