DVS1 kommt 2016 erstmals nach Graz

From 20 October through 23 October 2016, the annual Elevate festival will take place in Graz, Austria. Elevate is an interdisciplinary festival for electronic music, art and political discourse and this installment's main focus lies on the We Are Europe initiative.

The following final additions have been added to the lineup.

The opening evening at Dom im Berg will be hosted by the Cologne-based festival c/o pop. There, the US composer Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith will be presenting her third album EARS, out on Western Vinyl Records. The evening's next highlight is undoubtedly the writer, poet, activist, spoken word artist and musician Saul Williams. His latest album MartyrLoserKing dissects the current global political turmoil we are faced with while amalgamating punk, club music, hip hop and rock aesthetics.

Friday and Saturday boast a number of pleasant surprises: None other than Berghain Panorama Bar resident and all-around rave legend DVS1 will bring his versatile blend of styles and unique energy to Dom Im Berg. Another highlight gracing the Dom Im Berg stage is the British Duo Mount Kimbie, who will be presenting its third album. Hailing from France producer In Aeternam Vale has been at it since the 80's and is currently active on the cult label Minimal Waves. Young UK producer FunkinEven combines a raw, analog sensibility with the sounds of electro, '80s funk, and acid that is sure to entice his listeners. The brutally heavy, dub-influenced electronica of the incomparable Justin K Broadrick aka JK Flesh is likely to blend well with Elisabeth Schimana's Höllenmaschine. This “hell machine” is an instrument that is equal parts demonic and historic. The synthesizer designed by Max Brandt in 1957, is a physically and acoustically enormous construction for which Elisabeth Schimana has composed a suitably hellish piece of music. Fan favourite DJ PayPal will be celebrating his Graz debut alongside DJ Earl accompanied by footwork dancers Sirr Tmo & Dre. This unique experience is sure to showcase Earl’s Chicago roots in a big way.
