Franz Hautzinger

Hautzinger was born in Seewinkel/Burgenland in 1963 and studied at the University of Arts in Graz, which he had to drop out of due to palsy of the lips. In 1986 he moved to Vienna and "rediscovered" the trumpet. 1993 saw the release of Zong of se Boboolink CD together with Helge Hinteregger; 2000 saw the solo trumpet effort Gomberg. Many international colaborations with the likes of Derek Bailey, Keith Rowe, Christian Fennesz and Otomo Yoshihide, followed. He has been commissioned to compose by the Klangforum Wien and has been teaching at the University of Music since 1989.
