Scratcha DVA is a highly respected DJ and producer and one of Hyperdub’s Key players, hosting the monthly Hyperdub show, his trusted tastes given free reign once a month across the airwaves. Throughout his career he’s been immune to easy genre definitions, as a producer who has cut a joyful path through dance music, joining the dots between trends and styles into his productions. His debut album on Hyperdub, ‘Pretty Ugly’ featured Muhsinah, Vikter Duplaix, Zaki Ibrahim and others , sealing the prospect that he’s a UK equivalent to someone like Flying Lotus. His dance floor ready ‘Fly Juice EP’ on the other hand shows off his ability to make standout house Hybrids that sound like no one else, but were played widely by DJ’s. Scratcha DVAs choices of collaborators are always interesting too, from regular and ongoing work with Inga Copeland, who he has toured with, through to Portico Quartet as well as recently touring with UK house breakout star Julio Bashmore.
