Source Direct is a drum and bass producer duo from the UK. Often compared with ambient drum and bass artists such as LTJ Bukem, but their work displays a much darker sonic landscape with more of an emphasis of percussive assaults of syncopated breakbeats. Just one year after forming and at age 15, Source Direct picked up their first release, signing to Certificate 18, on the strength of a demo tape engineered by Photek. Pushing the boundaries of jungle to unseen levels in the 90s, releases on Virgin, Metalheadz, Street Beats, Odysee, Good Looking and their own label, Source Direct Recordings, they have been influencing producers ever since, with timeless tracks such as ‘Secret Liaison’, ‘A Made Up Sound’ and ‘Call & Response’ (as heard in the 1998 film ‘Blade’). Over a decade since the last Source Direct release, introducing Instra:mental (Boddika & Jon Convex) to the world, a range of new material is being readied to unveil in 2014, including an exclusive remix for Metalheadz and a new album project that will be announced in the near future.
