Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

Wikipedia is more than a website: It is one of the rare spheres of the internet which is not dominated by commercial or political interests. Moreover, it is a place where everybody can become a contributor and make the project their own. At least in theory - in practice the Wikimedia Foundation found that less than ten percent of the contributors to Wikipedia and her sister projects such as Wikidata identify as female. While the reasons for the gender gap are up for debate, the practical effect of the disparity is not: content is skewed by the lack of female participation, but also because of a lack of people with LTGB (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) background. This represents an alarming absence in an important repository of shared knowledge.   

We invite all feminists - male, female and/ or LTGB - to join our edit-a-thon (edit marathon) to make a change and spend an afternoon creating articles and - in celebration of the open data day - (Wiki)data about underrepresented artists from various fields like music, literature, film, theater, art or culture.  

Our feminisms are intersectional and inclusive. We have different perspectives and practices, but share the belief that art is fundamental to thriving societies.

Bringing your own literature on Art+Feminism is also a plus.  

Art+Feminism is an annual worldwide wiki-marathon (or edit-a-thon) with prestigious partner organisations such as the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York or the Tate Britain in London.
