Elevate's festival theme 2020 is "Human Nature". What's your second thought about it?

My second though about human nature has to do with the existence of humanity; with species inclusive because what affect humans also affect our species. Our species go on extinction when the environmental conditions are not conducive as well as human lives are loss due to environmental emergencies. This depend on how we are influencing our environment; positively or negatively.

And your first?

My first thought is about the earth; nature plus human. How is human influencing nature and how is nature influencing human. Is how humans treat nature that nature gives back. They are dependent on each other. Anyone one of the two missing will lead to the total destruction of the other. Our planet (earth) needs both for survival.

Quo Vadis Humanity? In 2009 Elevate's main theme was the climate crisis. 10 years have passed. Whats your take on the next 10?

My take about the next 10years is that, I'm hopeful that something will be done couple with the fact that young people are getting involved on climate action, the awareness level is increasing. A lot of initiatives by local and foreign organization is becoming rapid.

The relationship of humans and technology - more reasons to be pessimistic or optimistic?

I'm optimistic about humans & technology because innovation has become the other of the day.

And our relationship with nature? Of course we are "part of it", but....where are we going?

We are part of it and for the period of 10 years left for us to act according to IPCC reports. For now, we are the one to drive nature and the planet for eco-restoration. After the 10 years of action needed and nothing is done to restore nature, then revise will be the case; nature drives us that means we are doom.

"Psycho-spiritual crisis", "a psychotic society",... How bad is the status quo of humanity?

Much is expected from us in meeting the timeline of actions needed. The current state we are does not show that we are winning the race yet.

A message to the Elevate Festival community? What can we do?

My message to Elevate Festival community is that, they are doing great things for bring people together to listen to science. So doing they become aware of the current state of our environment & are ready to get involved. This way that elevate festival is doing to carry out climate action is laudable.

What can we do?

The Elevate Festival can as well support the climate action of people from global south in carrying out clean source of energy or climate education or train the youth on alternative source of energy so that when we go back to our home country to replicate such action.

Elevate features many amazing artists in the music & arts programme. Can we meet you on the Dancefloor too?

Maybe (smile).
