Quo Vadis Humanity? In 2009 Elevate's main theme was the climate crisis. 10 years have passed. Whats your take on the next 10?
A(I)ssimilate or extinct
The relationship of humans and technology - more reasons to be pessimistic or optimistic? Can you name some?
I believe our chance to survive the next 80 years as a species depends on a strong and healthy relationship with technology, so I choose to be optimistic. As long as I focus on the beautiful progress, humans are making (through their relationship with tech) in the areas of medicine, art, architecture, and environmental protection, I look forward to the future.
And our relationship with nature? Of course we are "part of it", but....where are we going?
Romantic? Abusive? As long as we decide to blank out that we depend on nature, but nature does not depend on us, it will be a bizarre relationship, I guess. Earth has survived worse things than humans, though. I still believe in love & tech, and sometimes even in human development (I actually have high hopes for generation Z).
"Psycho-spiritual crisis", "a psychotic society",... How bad is the status quo of humanity?
BAD :) ...but things often need to get worse before they get better, so I guess we are well underway. Besides that, I love to see how the urge to heal and to make a change seems to be growing within our communities.
