Since his early days Wolfgang Rehm takes a stand for environmental issues and civil rights. He comes from the Donau-March region and was one of the first Hainburg activists in 1984. Back then the environmental activists won the controversy regarding the Donau power plant and Hainburg became a symbol for self-confident resistance of citizens. Rehm didn't rest on his success, but to this day plays an active part in fighting for an adequate formation of the Donau and a sustainable energy policy. He works for the environmental organization VIRUS/WUK-Umweltbureau and is co-founder of the citizens' initiative Marchfeld Marchegg/Breitensee (BIMM).
