Peaches (ca)
Peaches has been considered one of the most legendary and influential feminist musicians and performance artists in the world for two decades. Born in Canada and now based in Berlin, Merrill Beth Nisker's progressive work deals with socially explosive issues and focuses on questions of gender and sexuality with sometimes biting humor. Her live performances are considered excessive, flamboyant and ecstatic. In them, she advocates for self-empowerment and LGBTQ+ rights with fearless verve, challenging traditional gender roles, binary classifications and patriarchal power structures, and elaborating on personal experiences. At Elevate she will perform her brilliantly futuristic stage happening "Teaches for Peaches." It includes a ten-piece ensemble and references the album of the same name released in 2000, which features cult numbers like the anthemic "Fuck The Pain Away."
