In the performance "Grounding" by Finnish artist Roi Vaara, the city itself becomes a sound generator. Equipped with a Fender Stratocaster and a guitar amplifier, Vaara will move through Graz. But instead of playing the guitar, he will carefully drag it behind him and let the instrument play from the different surfaces of the street. The result is as poetic as it is irritating. Vaara has been causing a stir with his controversial performances since the early 80s and is considered one of the most recognized Scandinavian performance artists.
