Charlemagne Palestine (us)
Saturday, 07 Mar 2020
Saturday afternoon the Mariahilferkirche becomes the scene of an extraordinary performance. In one of his rare carillon concerts, Charlemagne Palestine will make the chimes of the church sound. Within the New York;s avantgarde scene, he's considered one of its most important figures and a pioneer of American minimal music alongside Steve Reich, Tony Conrad, LaMonte Young and Terry Riley. In his predominantly improvisational and hypnotic concerts, rhythmic patterns and sound figures are repeated as often as necessary until the sounds begin to vibrate into each other and overtones to reveal themselves.
