Esra Karakaya is an award-winning journalist and the founder of KARAKAYA TALKS, a media company producing news and talk shows for Millennials and Gen Zs of Color. She was the first visibly Muslim TV host in Germany and continues to be recognized as a leading social entrepreneur. Among her accolades, she was named one of Zeit Campus’s “30 under 30 changing Germany” in 2020. She also received the Hildegard Hamm-Brücher Democracy Prize in 2021, while KARAKAYA TALKS won the Grimme Online Award in the Culture and Entertainment category in 2020 and the “Long Breath” Journalism Award from the German Journalists Association in 2023. Esra Karakaya is deeply committed to media justice and the production of news for marginalized communities.
