Martin works in the acoustic as well as the digital realm of music creation. He likes to use extremes to affect the perception of the audience as well as performers and his approaches range from rigid to conceptual systems. In Canada he studied composition with Stephen Chatman, Keith Hamel, and Robert Pritchard, musicology with Friedemann Sallis and computer science with Jeffrey E. Boyd. Currently he lives in Graz, Austria where he also studied with Klaus Lang and Marko Ciciliani. His works and research have been performed worldwide in concerts, conferences, and festivals such as EMS, ICMC, NIME, Darmstadt Summer Courses, Impuls Academy, ComposIt, Musikprotokoll Graz, Mikrofest Helsinki, and others. He was a founding member of the Vancouver Composer Collective, was VP for Vancouver Pro Musica, and a founding member of the Facere Collective in Graz. When he isn’t coding or composing he is coding.
