Pope Sangreta aka Chin Tsao is just as much a hip visual artist as an up-and-coming music act. Originally from Taiwan and then based in Vienna for several years, Tsao lives temporarily in Amsterdam. As Pope Sangreta, Tsao uses frenzied performances to address precarious conditions and the blatant racism with which Tsao regularly finds himself confronted. Like an exorcism, Tsao combines abysmal, occult sounds with radical, piercing vocals that range from harsh rap to opera singing to growling.
