Micachu & The Shapes

The concept of a boundary is ignored to the point of total irrelevance when it comes to the 21-year- old multi - talent Mica Levi a.k.a Micachu. When she`s not making mixtapes, scoring for the London Philharmonic Orchestra or working on designing her own instrument (the "Chu"), she is producing and performing experimental pop with backing from The Shapes. Produced by the influential electronic musician Matthew Herbert and released earlier this year for the Rough Trade Records, their debut album Jewellery is garnering them critical acclaim across the board. Absorbing electro-pop, wonky rhythms and edgey Brit Rock, it is a fearlessly experimental, effervescent record which blends the organic and the digital, featuring skiffly guitar-strumming, glitchy beats and a - vacuum cleaner. Their at machine gun speed and rib-rattling volume delivered performance contains echoes of iconic post-punk, as well as more modern musical currents, including dubstep and drum'n'bass among others - impressively broad sonic palette with a strong sense of musicality.
