Great Transformations
The Multiple Crisis and Future Perspectives

Great Transformations

We are experiencing tremendous social upheavals. The interrelations and common causes of the current crises in the fields of economics, politics, climate, energy, agriculture and food are becoming more evident. Indigenous movements speak of a "crisis of civilization", which gives expression to the fundamental predicament of the entirety of the globalizing western model of society.

What strategies are being used by the political and economic actors who are responsible for a further intensification of the crisis, and what is the potential of currently resurgent social movements that oppose the (anti-) crisis policies and promote alternatives?

The relationships and interactions between the crisis and geopolitical power shifts will also be discussed. What future scenarios could evolve from this? What factors will be critical to the further development?
