Quo Vadis Humanity?

Thursday, 05 Mar 2020

19:00 - 20:30 Forum Stadtpark

Science is alarming, politics is lamenting, the climate crisis is finally becoming a mainstream topic, but where is humankind heading and what about the state of humanity?

The effects and consequences of CO2 emissions have been known to science for more than 40 years. Even large oil companies have known about the long-term effects of burning fossil fuels since the late 1970s. The climate crisis has been on the horizon for many decades, but politics and above all economic interests seem to spare no effort to maintain the status quo. Now Australia is burning, Pacific islands are sinking, hurricanes are becoming more intense and natural disasters are hitting our continent hard.

Ariadne von Schirach's analysis of the "Psychotic Society" is one of several approaches of this discussion panel. How can our democracy develop further? What role do historical experiences play in the transformation processes currently underway? And how does the transformation succeed? Does humanity fall by the wayside when the going gets tough? Which ways of thinking and which structures stand in the way of an effective transformation process? Which strategies can still turn the tide in a positive direction?
