Among insiders, Anika is already regarded as a cult figure. The Berlin-based British expatriate and former political journalist is often compared by critics to Nico - her voice equally velvety, plaintive, yearning, and at the same time cool and detached. The singer’s stoic presence is translated into self-determined songs that open up intimate spaces in which personal fears and doubts, questions of self-empowerment, and broader social issues are explored.
