Eleven years have passed since the release of her debut album, which is considered by many as a cult. With "Change", the new album by Annika Henderson aka Anika has finally been released. On it, the Berlin-based British exile and former political journalist deals with profound fears and doubts and questions of self-empowerment and social change. Anika's voice plays the leading role. Critics like to compare her to Nico - she sounds so velvety, wonderfully plaintive, yearning and resolute. The singer's stoic presence is transposed into undercooled numbers and opens up intimate spaces. The results are dreamy, melodramatic indie pop songs that draw in the depths.(c) Sven Gutjahr
