Originally starting out DJing under the name Girl U No Its True around 2007, Philip Gamble had been producing since the age of 17. His productions finally started picking up in 2009 and he put out his first ep, IRL on the Night Slugs label, earlier this year. Girl Unit aims to produce physical 808-based club tracks that he hopes serve to project his love for RnB/rap music and regional US club music styles.
During his DJ sets he tries to cohesively work his way through global house sounds, dirty south instrumentals, detroit/chicago classics, raw US club tracks and local bangers from rising UK producers, as well as his own productions and Night Slugs label mates releases.
His second EP, featuring title track Wut, will be out on the Night Slugs in late September.
