The music-program kept the audience into motion until sunrise
Discourse program:
What role do people play in our constantly evolving 21st century? Saturday's discourse program of this year's Elevate Festival focused on humans and society to answer this question.
At the workshop Queer Pop Politics? and the following discussion about indeterminacy as charm and chance centered around social interaction. The picture of the “ordinary human being” was questioned and viewed from a queer perspective so as to create a new understanding for individuals and their roles in society.
Afterwards, Bernd Röttger, Andrea Bührmann, Christian Siefkes and Johanna Muckenhuber discussed the role of humans as “You Inc.'s”. In the society of the 21st century, we are expected to be available and flexible at all times. The pressure of the working world onto individuals is growing and the currently prevailing system forces us to work very hard. Peer production could be an alternative, and a first step to enable an encouraging and collaborative working environment.

However, in the 21st century, not only is the pressure on working people increasing, but also more and more control is being exercised over individuals. In line with this topic, “Everything under control?” was the question of the following discussion. The film “Article 12” gave an impression of continuously increased control by the state, and filled the Forum Stadtpark to capacity.
Music and Arts:
Readings and performances have been presented at the hörgeREDE, the festival inside the festival. Amongst others, Daniela Seel and Janine Rostron (Planningtorock) illustrated how contradictions in our reality can raise severe objections without negating the ambivalence of life.
Additionally, Planningtorock was also a guest at the Stadtmuseum yesterday, where she talked about the future of bass music with Pearson Sound and Boddika. Hosted by Todd L. Burns of Resident Advisor, the discussion thus gathered three of the most interesting and influential people of the genre.
In the cellar of the Forum Stadtpark, some practical knowledge of music was shared in two workshops dealing with Dub Fiction and Drum Layering.
At night the lights were flashing once again across the three rooms inside the Schlossberg. With 25 years of experience in the area of music, DeepChord heated up the atmosphere with his dub-inspired techno, before handing the stage back to Morphosis' tropical drum sounds. Later on, Chez Damier and Move D. kept the audience in motion until sunrise.
Meanwhile, Rockwell, Badawi and many others presented Dub, Avant Electronics and DNB in the Dungeon. The line-Up of the Red Bull Music Academy Radio Tunnel was up to artists of the label SWAMP81, and excited the audience with the music of artists like Pearson Sound, Loefah and Boddika.
