Gilda Sahebi (de)

Gilda Sahebi is a trained medical doctor, political scientist and journalist. She completed her journalism traineeship at Bayerischer Rundfunk and now works as a freelance journalist focusing on domestic and foreign politics, authoritarian systems, and polarization. She writes for taz and Der Spiegel and also works for ARD. Her books »Unser Schwert ist Liebe« Die feministische Revolte im Iran“ and Wie wir uns Rassismus beibringen. Eine Analyse deutscher Debatten were published in 2023 and 2024 by S. Fischer Verlag. Her latest book, Verbinden statt spalten. Eine Antwort auf die Politik der Polarisierung, was published in September 2025.

In it, she argues that dominant narratives about supposedly unbridgeable social divides are politically manufactured and reinforced by the media. Drawing on key conflict areas—social policy, migration, war, gender, and COVID—she shows that people share far more in everyday life than these narratives suggest, and explains how public discourse systematically distorts this reality.
