Electric Indigo will be having a conversation with DJ Marcelle (“the female John Peel”) which will introduce female:pressure, a network for women in electronic music and digital arts founded 15 years ago by Marcelle herself. After a brief round-up of his career, Electric Indigo will talk about her activities in 2013 which began with a study of female proportion in the scene she operates in, and led to a press statement and a festival in Berlin. Another major topic will be the existing dynamic that results from the media’s reception of the movement and the approximately 1300 artists from 58 countries that are members of this group. Since the Perspectives Festival in Berlin will be hosting a series of talks and panels that will not only discuss the status quo of the existing mechanisms of booking and media strategies but also discursively try to find ways to open up and change the scene, the Elevate Music talks will also provide a summary of the insights gained in Berlin. DJ Marcelle and Electric Indigo will shed light on these aspects. Last but not least, the attendants and the hosts themselves will examine the Elevate Festival by the same token.
