Workshop "Performing Electronic Music"
by Maya Shenfeld
Friday, 01 Mar 2024
Workshop is fully booked!
What actually happens on stage when musicians perform live electronic music? How is this experienced by the performer, and the audience? In this two-hour workshop, Maya Shenfeld will demystify live electronic music performance. Shenfeld will break down common techniques, setups, workflows, talk about musical approaches to sculpting the dynamic arc of a show, and outline steps for preparing an electronic set. This session extends beyond technicalities, inviting participants to reflect on ways of embodying the performance, various stage setups, and lights. During the second half of the workshop, participants will be invited to experiment with live processing, and develop ideas for their own live performance.
This workshop welcomes participants at every skill level and users of any DAW. Participants are invited to bring whatever they use for making music, i.e., a computer, sampler, instruments, and/or a work in progress sample, song, or whatever they might like to experiment with. Please bring headphones.
